Places to stay in Montpellier

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Montpellier, you really should try one of the following tried and tested options.

Cheap and cheerful €25 - The home of MontpellierLife contributor and friend Phil Booth has recently been added to airbnb. Centrally located, but on one of the quieter streets near the Comedie you will find everything you need within easy reach. I should know, I used to live there and will be staying there on my return visit this September. Another big positive of this particular lodging is the shaded courtyard located at the back.

Mid range €50 - The home of another local friend, Shane, can also be found on airbnb. Situated in a beautiful old building near St Roch, this sympathetically refurbished apartment is surrounded by bars, restaurants and local life. If you’re quick you may get there for the Feast of St Roch, a festival that is celebrated every August. Keep your eyes peeled for the beautifully decorated traffic bollards too!

Luxury from €99 per night - If you fancy splashing out, try the Holiday Inn Metropole Hotel. We know several people that have stayed here without complaint. Located near the station, the rooms are not huge but functional and they do have an outdoor swimming pool. There is also a lovely terrace restaurant, where I have eaten fantastic food on more than one occasion. The menu can be requested in English, but the food is most definitely French as is the wine and the staff are extremely knowledgable and helpful.

Wherever you decide to stay you will enjoy your trip to Montpellier. Let us know of any highlights.
